Campaign Wrap-up & Thanks
As the Executive Director, I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for this year's TACA Family and Friends campaign. This third annual effort has raised a record amount of over $60,000. Thank you for taking the time and help TACA perform our mission. We could not do it without your help.
While thanking you, I could not help but reflect on this campaign and its original purpose. The TACA Family and Friends campaign came about from all the families and relatives who said "how can I help."
I have always been very reluctant to tell how families can help. Families affected by autism are tremendously busy and challenged every day. It was the goal of TACA to be a sanctuary of information and help versus asking for help from families already taxed and working hard to help their children.
The campaign was also created to put a face on autism, share stories and build communities in families back yards by reaching out and getting help for the group that supports them. TACA's mission and efforts are grass roots. Besides supporting families–awareness about autism is a crucial part of what we want to accomplish. Autism is anything but easy and more friends to have an understanding are needed. Having you put a face on autism about a child you love that is affected helps us get closer to that goal.
Where does the campaign funds go? TACA has grown over 3,000% in the members since last year and our mission has become more critical than ever. Autism is still on the rise and families need us to be there for them. The funds from the TACA Family & Friends helps us to continue to meet the need.
Your help–from the TOP FUNDRAISER to the family who raised $75 from neighbors for this campaign–meant a lot to TACA and to me. I am touched by the pictures, stories and checks coming in to TACA in honor of a child that is loved and that has autism. I have saved many of these stories and look at them regularly to stay focused on the growing task at hand. We have a lot of work to do.
TACA will keep these First Giving pages open. The stories will continue and your support has been wonderful. Together we can make a difference for all the TACA families. I truly appreciate your support and wanted you to know–it is a huge help to your friends at TACA.
All my best,
Lisa Ackerman
